NBN plan information and consumer protections
Before you enter or change an eligible nbn® contract, GippsHost provides the exact plan’s Key Facts Sheet: NBN Services and Critical Information Summary. The Key Facts Sheet explains the maximum speed tier, substantiated typical speed and hours, example use, factors at your premises that may affect performance, power-failure limitations, alarm compatibility and applicable copper-line remedies.
After activation, we check that the service is operational. For applicable FTTN, FTTB and FTTC services, we also obtain maximum-attainable-speed evidence. If the line cannot support the selected tier, we explain the available lower-priced plan or fee-free exit options and apply the statutory charging protections. Compliance evidence is retained for at least two years.
- ACMA: NBN service rules for telcos
- Telecommunications Consumer Protections Code C628:2019 incorporating Variation No.1/2022 (the currently registered TCP Code, which remains in force until ACMA’s replacement standard commences)
- Telecommunications (NBN Consumer Information) Industry Standard 2018
- Telecommunications Service Provider (NBN Service Migration) Determination 2018
Outage communications and carrier registers
GippsHost publishes current service notices and prominent links to the historical major-outage and significant-local-outage registers maintained by relevant network carriers. These links are required by the Telecommunications (Customer Communications for Outages) Industry Standard 2024 and do not replace live outage updates or urgent customer assistance.
Critical Information Summaries
Our Critical Information Summaries (CIS) provide a clear overview of the key information about GippsHost services, including pricing, typical speeds, contract terms and other important details.
These documents are designed to help customers understand the services they are purchasing and support GippsHost’s pre-contract information obligations under the Telecommunications Consumer Protections Code. They do not limit any additional right or remedy available under Australian law.
Available summaries:
A plan-specific CIS is available for every nbn® plan we currently sell. Check your address to see all eligible plans, their typical busy-period speeds, any enhanced fault-restoration option and the exact CIS for each plan.
